Robert M. Hager, a longtime resident of Chassell, passed away on November 5, 2026, at Canal View — Houghton County, where he had resided for the past five years.
Bob was born on June 1, 1939, in Ishpeming, Michigan, to the late Maurice and Edith Hager. He was raised in the Ishpeming area and graduated from Ishpeming High School with the class of 1957. He continued his education at Northern Michigan University, earning a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and an Education Specialist (E.D.S.) degree in education.
Bob spent his career in education, teaching in several school districts before serving as principal at Calumet Elementary School, where he spent the majority of his career. Following his retirement from public education, he founded the Meemic Insurance Agency in Chassell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Edith Hager, his wife, Charlotte Hager, and his brother-in-law, Gregg Bjorne.
He is survived by: his daughters: Cynthia (Anatoli Andreev) Blake of Chassell and Kristin (Brent) Peterson of Chassell; His grandchildren: Jessica (Joe) Dingeldein, Andrew Blake, Jonathon Blake, Branden Petersen and Annika Peterson; his great-grandchildren: Calvin, Ada, and Esther Dingeldein; His sister-in-law: Joan Bjorne of Negaunee; His nephews: Kevin (Andrea) Bjorne and their sons Alex and Max and Kenneth (Kristen) Bjorne and their son Colin
As requested, no service will be held.
