William H. Crouter, 84, husband of Elaine Crouter, residents of Madeira Beach, FL, and summer resident of Chassell, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Canal View — Houghton County following a short illness.
He was born on June 14, 1942, in Grand Blanc, MI, a son of the late Harold and Annie (Hall) Crouter. Bill was raised in Royal Oak, MI, and was a graduate of the George A. Dondero High School of Royal Oak. He then received his teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University.
Mr. Crouter was proud to have taught 8th-grade science at Southfield Public Schools.
On September 2, 1967, he was united in marriage to the former Elaine Siponen. The couple had made their home in Royal Oak and Waterford, MI, while working. In retirement, the couple would winter in Madeira Beach, FL, and summer in Chassell.
Preceding William in death were his parents and his brother Robert.

A time to remember William will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 4 to 6:00 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service – Chassell Chapel. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock at a later time.
