Roger Waarala, 77, of Lake Linden, passed away unexpectedly, at his home, on October 7, 2026, with family by his side.

Roger was born on August 8, 1949, a son of Gordon and Irene Waarala. He was not expected to survive his first night and was baptized shortly after birth; but he had the most “Sisu” and lived for 77 years.
Roger was lovingly referred to by some as “the mayor of Lake Linden.” He had worked for a time at a paper mill in Green Bay before returning to the Copper Country. He enjoyed going for rides with his buddy, Dennis. He would often be seen riding his lawn-mower to Candy’s in Hubbell. He also enjoyed making firewood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-Dale “Utti,” and a great-nephew, Ryan.
He is survived by: 4 sisters-Lynn Kargela, Bonnie (Dennis) Baril, Debbie (Tony Burcar) Thomas, and Jackie (Mark) Kentala; his cat-Kitty, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and special friend-Candy.
Funeral services will be private. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
