Alice “Joyce” Porter, 97, of Hancock, Michigan, passed away at Canal View-Houghton County on October 6, 2006.
She was born on June 28, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Alfred and Petronella Tyssee.
Joyce was married to Richard Porter on October 20, 1945. He passed away on January 13, 2000.
Joyce liked chocolate, coffee, and Mocha Lattes from McDonald’s. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, her son-David passed in 1988, great grandchild-Aidan Lahti, and son-in-law-David Zimmerman in 2007.
She is survived by: 2 daughters-Cynthia Zimmerman of Michigan and Claudia Porter of California; grandchildren-Christina (Andy) Lahti, Julie (Will) Ross, Eric (Danielle) Valdez, and Michael (Kassie) Valdez; 10 great-grandchildren- Abby, Lily, Gavin Ross, Emalene and Eliot Valdez, Ava, Alice, and Ari Lahti, Owen and Ryan Valdez; along with a few dear friends and relatives in Norway.
She will be cremated and interred at the Sunset Cemetery with her husband in Minneapolis. The O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at oneilldennisfh.com
