On the volleyball schedule last night…
- Hancock got past Gwinn 3-1 (20-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-16). The Bulldogs remain unbeaten in best-of-five set matches.
- Baraga remained unbeaten, sweeping Watersmeet 3-0 (25-3, 25-1, 25-6) and the Copper Island Academy 2-0 (25-21, 25-6).
- Note – Baraga will play at Hancock tomorrow night, with the broadcast on the Voice of the Bulldogs, Lite 96.3 Houghton’s Breeze.
- Calumet downed Houghton 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19).
- Lake Linden-Hubbell outlasted L’Anse 3-2 (26-24, 23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-12).
- Jeffers swept Ewen-Trout Creek 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-22).
- Dollar Bay-Tamarack City fell to Ironwood 3-0 (21-25, 21-25, 15-25).

MLB
In the National League Divisional playoff series last night…
- The Dodgers downed the Braves 3-1. L-A leads that series 2-1, with game four tonight in Atlanta.
- The Brewers fell to the Padres 4-3. Milwaukee had runners at first and second in the top of the ninth, but Christian Yelich grounded into a double play to end the game. The Brewers lead that series 2-1, with game four tonight in San Diego.
The American League Divisional series resume tonight…
- The White Sox host the Guardians. Chicago leads that set 2-0.
- The Rays visit the Yankees. Tampa Bay is up 2-0 in that series.
NHL
The Red Wings outscored the Senators 5-3 last night. Dylan Larkin came off the injured list to score a goal. Viktor Arvidsson amd Justin Faulk added tallies, and Alex DeBrincat scored twice, including a late empty-netter. John Gibson made 22 saves.
The Wings will host the Kraken on Friday.
Detroit has placed Marco Kasper and Mason Appleton on the injured list. Kasper is dealing with an upper-body injury sustained in a fight during the season-opener. Details about Appleton’s injury have not been released, except that he is considered “week to week.”
NBA
The Bucks visit the Thunder for a preseason contest tonight.
The Pistons’ next preseason contest is Saturday at Washington.
