CLK VFW Post 3900 and its auxiliary will host a special breakfast fundraiser this weekend to support Soldier Salvation, a new veterans organization in the Copper Country providing transitional housing for homeless veterans.
The pancake breakfast will feature pancakes, French toast, breakfast bakes, sausage, toast and coffee. The meal runs from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday at VFW Post 3900, located at 26628 Larch Street in Calumet. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased from a VFW veteran or at the door.
Veterans organizations throughout the Copper Country provide more than camaraderie and service to their communities. Beyond their core mission, these groups regularly organize fundraising meals including barbecue chicken dinners and spaghetti dinners. Funds raised at these meals can help a post maintain their hall, help get veterans to events during the year, or allow veterans to place flags at memorials on national holidays.
The breakfast fundraiser with the CLK Post 3900 on Saturday represents another way local veterans give back while supporting those in need. Soldier Salvation addresses a critical gap in services for homeless veterans in the region by offering transitional housing and support.
