The Houghton boys soccer team fell to Marquette 5-1 yesterday. The Sentinels took control with four goals in the first half. Ian Hembroth scored the Gremlins’ only goal early in the contest.

MLB
The Tigers’ six-game winning streak ended with a 5-1 loss to the Blue Jays yesterday afternoon. Riley Greene’s first-inning single off Max Scherzer drove in Detroit’s only run. Scherzer completed five innings to earn the win. Tigers starter Keider Montero struggled through four innings, allowed two runs and took the loss.
The Tigers visit the White Sox tonight. Framber Valdez will start against Erick Fedde. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Christian Yelich’s two-run single in the top of the seventh gave the Brewers a 5-4 victory over the Pirates last night. Logan Henderson struck out eight over five innings, but also gave up three runs.
The Brewers visit the Pirates again this afternoon. Kyle Harrison will pitch against Wilber Dotel.
Milwaukee pitcher Grant Anderson has been sent to Nashville to begin a rehab assignment. He’s recovering from inflammation in his pitching arm.

The Lions visit the Bills tonight.
NHL
Disgruntled former team captain Dylan Larkin will be with the Red Wings when they open training camp tomorrow in Detroit, but he won’t be skating. Team officials report he’s suffering from an upper-body injury. They’re not saying what it is, or how serious, although interim general manager Shawn Horcoff speculated that Larkin would be able to take to the ice sometime during camp. Larkin has asked to be traded, but has given Wings management a very short list of acceptable clubs, and Detroit has not been able to accommodate him.
