The Michigan Department of Transportation is reducing US-41 to a single lane near the M-35 intersection beginning Sept. 15 for a reconstruction project near Negaunee.
Contractors will reduce eastbound US-41 to one lane near the M-35 intersection. The westbound US-41 direct turn onto M-35 will close to traffic, with a detour directing drivers to the next crossover to the west to turn south onto M-35.
MDOT will station a flag operator to manage alternating lane traffic on M-35.
The $6.2 million project will rebuild a 3-mile stretch of M-35 between County Road 480 and US-41, including the M-35 roundabout at Marquette County Road 492. The lane restrictions are expected to last until late October.
Drivers should allow extra time for travel through the area and follow posted detour signs.
