David John Horn, 59, passed away on September 6, 2026 after battling cancer, with family by his side.
David was born in Detroit on May 23, 1967 to James and Donna (Roberts) Horn. He grew up in Lincoln Park where he attended the local schools, and eventually earned his GED.
David spent most of his adult life as a truck driver. In 2007, David moved to Calumet with his son John to take care of his mother after his father’s passing.
David met his girlfriend Lori Kaipio in 2008. They spent 18 happy years together.
Dave was a wonderful father to his only son, John. He loved John very much and raised him to be a respectable, fine adult. Additionally, he was a father figure to Lori’s two sons, Justin and David for all these years.
David enjoyed working on cars, camping, fishing, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family.
Our hearts are broken with the loss of Dave, but he is at peace and is no longer suffering. We were so blessed to have you in our lives.
David is preceded in death by his parents, James and Donna Horn, one brother James Horn, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his son John, girlfriend Lori Kaipio, step-sons Justin Kaipio, and David (Brittany) Kaipio, grandsons Bryson, Kyler, Owen, and Levi, as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
There will be a celebration of life for David on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Calumet Waterworks (Bucky’s) at 4:30pm.
