The Superior Health Foundation announced Tuesday it will distribute $271,000 across 11 health initiatives throughout the Upper Peninsula, with a significant focus on addressing dental health gaps.
The UP Health Impact Fund will receive $100,000 to support the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center’s Sawyer Dental Project. An additional $75,000 will support My Community Dental Centers to address workforce shortages in dental health across the region.
“Oral health continues to surface as one of the UP’s most persistent gaps, whether it’s workforce shortages, aging equipment, or the distance families must travel for basic care,” said SHF CEO Morgan Murphy.
In the western region, the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community’s Food Preservation Workshop Series received $72,300. The Western UP Health Department’s UP MOM program received $22,406.
