More than 34,000 people crossed the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day, continuing an annual tradition that celebrates Michigan’s iconic span connecting the Upper and Lower Peninsulas.
The bridge walk drew participants from across the state for the event honoring the structure and the trade unions that constructed it. The annual gathering has grown significantly in recent years, with attendance ranging between 21,000 and 35,000 people since 2018.
The Labor Day bridge walk over the Mackinac Bridge remains a cherished Michigan tradition, bringing together residents to celebrate the engineering feat and the workers who built the five-mile bridge.
