The City of Houghton has announced that the lower part of Quincy Street, between Shelden and Montezuma avenues, will be repaved entirely. This work is being performed in preparation for the upcoming work on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, as MDOT would like to ensure the route will be in ideal shape.
Work is planned to be taking place between Sep. 8 and Oct. 2, though the City has stated that minimal disruption to the traffic on US-41 is expected. Due to the fact that the adjoining parking deck will also be rejuvenated, those who regularly utilize the parking in that area are encouraged to contact the City to make arrangements if needed; the parking disruption is only expected to last a total of three days, from Sep. 21 to Sep. 23.
