The Copper Country Community Arts Center will display “Up Close and Personal,” a new fiber art exhibit by Peg McNinch, beginning today in the Cote Exhibition Gallery.
McNinch’s work incorporates rusted metal, stones, bark, beads and twigs combined with hand-dyed wool fabric. She created the pieces using intricate techniques including seed, French knot, bullion, back and satin stitching.
Over the years, McNinch has developed an extensive collection of work spanning multiple mediums, including stained glass, colored pencil, beadwork in jewelry and needlework stitching.
The exhibit will remain on display through September 30. The Copper Country Community Arts Center will host an opening reception for McNinch’s exhibit on September 10. The following day, McNinch will lead a Slow Stitch Circle to introduce fiber art to new participants.
The workshop provides an opportunity for community members to learn fiber art techniques while connecting with other artists and enthusiasts in the Copper Country region.
