While Keweenaw Queers’ annual Pride Fest in June draws the largest crowds, the LGBTQIA+ organization hosts events year-round to foster community and connection.
This Saturday, the group will host an all-ages celebration of community and creativity at the Breakers Shelter in McLain State Park. The free event will feature tie-dye activities with more than 100 t-shirts available for participants to customize.
“It will be a great way to end a fun filled summer,” said Emily Stanton, president of Keweenaw Queers.
The picnic offers an opportunity for community members to gather, celebrate and express creativity through art. The tie-dye component provides a hands-on activity that appeals to attendees of all ages and artistic abilities.
Visitors will need either a park pass or day entry to McLain State Park to attend. The free event removes financial barriers to participation, making it accessible to all community members.
Keweenaw Queers continues its mission of building connection and visibility for LGBTQIA+ individuals throughout the Keweenaw Peninsula. The organization welcomes new members and allies to join in celebrating community pride.
