The Keweenaw Peninsula boasts countless amazing places to visit, eat and play; every year, Visit Keweenaw, the local tourism council, hosts a Voter’s Choice Award contest to determine which businesses and locations people in the Copper Country felt were the top of their category.
“This year, something special about the Keweenaw Voter’s Choice is that we’re letting YOU make the nominations,” explains Jesse Wiederhold, Managing Director for Visit Keweenaw, “last year, we heard a lot of ‘what about so-and-so, what about Roy’s, what about this place?’, so this year, all up to you, so you’re making the picks and then you get to vote on them.”
In order to capture the autumnal spirit, some of the categories are fall-themed– some of this year’s categories include: Best Pasty Shop, Best Coffee Shop, Best Lunch Spot, Best Breakfast Spot, Best Dinner Spot, Best Cocktail Spot, Best Pizza Shop, Best Hometown Bar, Best Sweet Spot, Best Fall Viewing Experience, Best Stargazing Location, Best Rainy Day Fun, Best Historical Experience, Best Nature Trail, Best Guided Experience and Best Spooky Season Stop. Voting will begin Sept. 7 and continue for one week, with the winners being announced Sept. 15. All people are encouraged to participate and give their voice to the contest!
