Timothy Ovist, 61, a resident of South Range, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at his home following a short illness.
He was born on February 23, 1965, in Hancock, MI, a son of the late Robert “Bucky” and Elizabeth (Lexson) Ovist. Tim was raised in Oskar and attended the E.B. Holman School before graduating from Houghton High School with the class of 1983. While attending Houghton Tim was proud to be a part of the 1982, High School Hockey State championship team.
Following high school attended Michigan Technological University before beginning a career as an electrician. Mr. Ovist was a Journeyman Electrician with IBEW Local #906 for 36 years until earlier this month when his health would no longer allow him to work.
On June 25, 1993, he was united in marriage to the love of his life the former Deborah Olson. The couple had made their home in South Range. On July 22, 2011, Deborah preceded Tim in death.
Tim enjoyed following the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Lions, spending time outdoors, along with trips to the breaker, visiting with his family and having a Golden Grams Day.
Preceding him in death were his wife Deborah, his parents and his sons-in-law: Adam Spies and Tom Erickson.

A time to remember Timothy will be held Saturday August 22, 2026, from 1 to 4:00 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service Mt. View Chapel of South Range with a time to share memories at 4:00 pm. Burial will be held in the Oskar Cemetery at a later time.
