The Western Upper Peninsula Planning & Development Region (WUPPDR) announced that a mural celebrating its Farm-to-School project will be unveiled in the Donny Kilpela Memorial Park in Copper Harbor on Friday August 14th at 2:00 p.m.
The Farm-to-School project, which has lasted six years, is a collaboration promoting locally grown and produced foods and how local schools are taking advantage of them to help educate the next generation about responsible and healthy food production. Local artist and owner of Ilo, an art supply store in Hancock, Rebecca Paavo painted the mural which celebrates the Farm-to-School project.
To unveil the artwork, a small event will be held that will include a corn roast, mocktails, and live music presented by local musician Liv Arney. All are invited to attend the free admission celebration.
WUPPDR is a state designated planning and development region and federal economic development district covering Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties, with a mission to foster stable and diversified economies in the Western U.P.
