Northern Michigan University announced Thursday it earned the 2026 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being award from Insight Into Academia magazine.
The university will be featured alongside 37 institutions across the nation to also earn the recognition in the September edition of the magazine.
Vice President of Holistic Well-Being Dr. Angela Stebbins said the award reflects the university’s commitment to mental health.
“By signing the Okanagan Charter, NMU confirmed its commitment to embedding health and well-being into the campus culture and leading health promotion through collaboration,” Stebbins said. “This award is a meaningful example of that commitment.”
Across the NMU Marquette campus, departments and campus partners collaborate to support initiatives that promote the well-being of students, staff and faculty. Through education, outreach and peer support, Northern Michigan University fosters resilience and a strong sense of belonging.
