Veterans will lay to rest a World War II soldier who was listed as missing in action this month.
On Aug. 15, the American Legion Post 90 of Lake Linden will perform military rites for U.S. Army Sgt. Robert James Goldsworthy, who died at age 22 while serving in World War II.
Goldsworthy has been listed as missing in action since Dec. 17, 1944. His remains were identified in September 2025 at the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial in Saint-Avold, France.
The American Legion post will conduct a funeral ceremony for Goldsworthy at Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. next Saturday.
