Lloyd Goninan, 94, of Lake Linden, passed away on July 27, 2026, at Portage Pointe, after a brief illness.
Lloyd was born in Lake Linden on May 11, 1932, a son of Lloyd, Sr. and Mercedes Goninan. He graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School. He worked in Detroit, at MichCon Gas Company and Henry Ford Hospital. After retirement, he migrated back to the Copper Country, to Jacobsville, where he worked as the sexton of the Jacobsville Cemetery. He was an active member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden, where he served as an usher, and in the Knights of Columbus. He spent much of his free time collecting cans and he would donate all of the deposit money to St. Jude’s.
He was married to Mabel Ziegler on February 27, 1995. She passed away on April 26, 2018. Lloyd was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by: special nephew-Dennis (Cheryl) Guck of Stockbridge, MI; great-nephew-Noah (Nicole) Guck; special friend-Tammy (Butch) Stipe of Negaunee; and other nieces and nephews.
At Lloyd’s request, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is assisting the family.
