Michigan Tech’s Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology earns a grant award from the Gene Haas Foundation. The Gene Haas Foundation will award an $18,000 grant to the MMET department to fund scholarships supporting students enrolled in Computer Numerical Control training or an engineering program focused on CNC technology in manufacturing.
John Irwin, MMET department chair and professor at Michigan Technological University, says the Gene Haas Foundation scholarship award for the MMET department will help meet the vision to create a learning environment where students receive a world-class education while preparing them to become hands-on professionals in advanced manufacturing.
The Gene Haas Foundation was established with the initial focus on supporting communities in Ventura County, California, before expanding its work to provide scholarship grants nationwide for institutions offering manufacturing and CNC-related training.
