Spring marks a time of regrowth and renewed commitments. Last week, the Keweenaw Community Foundation announced it continues to commit support for a variety of causes in the Keweenaw Peninsula, sharing that the spring grant cycle awarded nearly $75,000 in grant funds.
The 2026 Spring Community Impact Fund and Field of Interest grant awards will spread $74,064 across the Copper Country through work by 19 organizations. The Community Impact Fund will split $57,475 among 15 organizations and programs supporting children, health, education, the environment, search and rescue operations, and community interests. The Field of Interest grants will support eight organizations.
Area 39 Special Olympics, Copper Country Community Arts Center, Hancock Trails Club and Copper Island Academy will each receive a portion of funds from both funding sources.
“The foundation is grateful to donors who support the Community Impact Fund and Field of Interest Fund throughout the year to support a variety of projects accomplished by a diverse group of organizations,” Director of Community Development and Communications Vienna Leonarduzzi said in a release.
Those interested in learning more about the organizations receiving funding through the Keweenaw Community Foundation’s spring grant cycle can find details online. KCF expects to open the fall grant cycle sometime in September.
