High School
Team Royal earned a 28-19 victory over Team White at Saturday’s U.P. All Star football game at the Superior Dome. Menominee’s Tanner Theuerkauf threw for two touchdowns and ran for another for Team Royal. He’ll join the Northern Michigan University team this fall. Houghton’s Brayden Goudge turned in a 47-yard touchdown run off a handoff from L’Anse’s Keegan Davidson. Goudge will suit up for Michigan Tech this fall. L’Anse’s Daniel Connor was named Team White Defensive MVP after returning a fumble for a touchdown. He’s headed to Ferris State in the fall. Calumet’s Josh Frantti was the head coach of Team Royal.

Troy Melton turned in another gem, as the Tigers stopped the White Sox 4-1 Saturday. Melton gave up a run on just one hit over six innings. Dillon Dingler hit his 17th home run of the season.
The Tigers wrap up that home set against the Sox again today. Keider Montero will start against Davis Martin. Coverage will begin at 1:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Ozzie Albies’ two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning off Aaron Ashby gave the Braves a 4-3 walk-off win over the Brewers Saturday. The late collapse ruined another good start by Kyle Harrison, who pitched into the seventh and gave up two runs on two hits.
The Brewers visit the Braves again this afternoon. Robert Gasser will pitch against Bryce Elder.
Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy will undergo two surgical procedures to address increasing discomfort. He’ll have back surgery on the team’s off-day Thursday, and a hip surgery during the All-Star break. Murphy says he doesn’t anticipate missing any games.
