Canal View, Houghton County’s long-term care facility, appointed Dr. Leah Abbott as its new medical director Thursday.
Abbott earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wayne State University and her medical degree from St. George’s University. She completed a residency with the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program and a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Canal View CEO Adam Laplander says the facility is excited to add Abbott’s leadership and experience to the team. Abbott says caring for older adults is a passion she has held since early in her training.
