The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is preparing to auction off a number of local parcels for which it has no use.
The list includes one property in Houghton County – an 18.5 acre parcel in Torch Lake Township, which includes 3,000 feet of frontage on Torch Lake. There is no road access, however, and the land can only be accessed via water.
There are six parcels up for grabs in Baraga County:
- 40 landlocked acres in Covington township, west of Nestoria;
- 20 acres in L’Anse Township that appears to have access to Celotex Road;
- 40 landlocked acres in Spurr Township that has frontage on Nelson Lake;
- 28.6 landlocked acres in Spurr Township with frontage on Ned Lake;
- 37.2 acres in Spurr Township, about a mile west of Michigamme; and
- 40 landlocked acres in Spurr Township, bisected by the Spurr River.
In all, 101 surplus properties across the state will be auctioned online in August. For details about the properties and the bidding process, click here.
