Keweenaw Community Foundation launches a new support initiative geared toward helping community organizations.
On Monday, the Keweenaw Community Foundation announced plans to start a new initiative aimed at supporting community organizations by offering resources, practical learning opportunities and connecting people across the community.
The Current: Community in Motion initiative uses collaboration as a cornerstone, coming out of responses the foundation received in the KCF Community Impact Survey.
“The Keweenaw is full of people who care deeply about their communities and are willing to step up to make things happen,” said CEO Robin Meneguzzo. “The Current is about making sure those individuals and organizations don’t have to do that work alone. By sharing resources, knowledge and connections, we can help strengthen the efforts already happening across the region.”
The Current: Community in Motion is funded through a Trust for Civic Life grant program supporting rural communities. KCF was included among a selection of 26 organizations around the country to receive the grant award in 2025.
On June 8, Keweenaw Community Foundation will host an open house and ice cream social to introduce the initiative to the community for the first time.
The Current will offer regular workshops and learning opportunities, one-on-one support for grant writing, fundraising, marketing and more, as well as provide a shared free resources loan closet with event and meeting supplies.
