Three people were taken to UPHS Portage on Friday following a head-on collision on M-26.
On Friday, close to noon, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a head-on collision on M-26. The accident occurred between two vehicles on M-26 in Ripley, each carrying two passengers. The accident sent one vehicle off the roadway, rolling over before coming to a stop.
Three individuals — one in one vehicle and two in the second — were transported to UPHS Portage for significant, non-life-threatening injuries. Two individuals remain in the hospital receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. One individual has been released from the hospital. The individual released from the hospital was taken into custody by the Houghton County Sheriff for an open warrant on a separate case.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office states an investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing. No other information has been shared at this time.
Law enforcement performed traffic control while crews were on site to clean up the accident. The location of the incident on M-26 caused a large traffic delay that lasted until 2 p.m.
