Greeting Spring Along the Marshy Nara Nature Trails by Dulce Block
Spring has arrived, summer will soon bring warm sunny days, and plenty of people will capture single moments in the Keweenaw Peninsula through photos.
On Tuesday, Visit Keweenaw announced the 2026 spring photo contest winner as Dulce Block for their photo of three mallard ducks in the Nara Nature Area. The photo depicts the return of waterfowl to the Copper Country.
Block’s photo captures three mallard ducks in a surreal position with each layered behind another, surrounded by the muted colors of the waterway.
Visit Keweenaw launched the spring photo contest to encourage residents and visitors to get outside after a long winter, to look forward to warm days, sunny skies, the return of several birds and early blooming flower buds.
Jesse Wiederhold says the responses to the contest always show how eager people are to reconnect with nature and get outside in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
