The City of Hancock is getting a new police vehicle.
At last night’s meeting, council members voted to spend $47,908 for a Ford Explorer equipped for law enforcement use. City Manager Mary Babcock noted that it has been several years since the police fleet was upgraded.
The city will also purchase a radar speed display trailer for $18, 584.17. The sign will be deployed in areas where speeding is a problem, to remind motorists to slow down. It can also be used as a message board to notify drivers of road work or detours ahead.
Dugouts at the ballfields at the Hancock Driving Park will be upgraded. Two of the existing dugouts are in poor condition, and the floors are below ground level. That causes water to pool inside. Those two will be razed, the pits filled in, and new enclosures constructed. Enclosures will also be built around a couple of bench areas that are currently not covered.
