The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin work today on M-26 to replace a culvert at the Ripley Street intersection damaged during the 2018 Father’s Day flood.
The Houghton County Road Commission is partnering with MDOT on the infrastructure repair project. MDOT conduct work on the project and will reduce traffic to a single lane during construction.
The department expects work to continue through June, with single-lane closures remaining in place until mid-August. The project is part of MDOT’s ongoing effort to repair infrastructure damaged by the devastating 2018 Father’s Day flood.
Motorists should slow down when near workers, as traffic fines can double in work zones. Find more details here.
