The Copper Country Community Arts Center will feature local artist Rob Kangas’ work throughout May with the opening of his latest gallery “Emergence.”
The gallery opens tonight with a reception showcasing Kangas’ abstract landscapes of Lake Superior that center on a single solitary figure.
Kangas studied fine arts at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, where he developed disciplined skills as an oil painter. He describes his latest collection as impressions shaped by memory, isolation and time spent in the woods along the shores of Lake Superior.
The opening reception begins at 6 p.m. at the Copper Country Community Arts Center, located at 126 Quincy Street in Hancock. Find more information about Rob Kangas’ exhibition “Emergence” here.
