Ted’s early years were shaped by the warmth of a close-knit family, sharing his childhood with his siblings in the picturesque landscapes of Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, his infant brother Rocke, and his brother Fran Gagnon, and he carried their memories with him in every step of his journey.
On December 30, 1972, Ted married his high school sweetheart, Holly, forming a partnership that would endure for over five decades. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a shared passion for adventure. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Devon (Lisa) Gagnon and Nicole (Bryan) Komoroski, who carry forward his legacy of love and resilience.
Educated at Kingsford Michigan High School, Ted graduated in 1970 before pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at Michigan Tech University. His intelligence and dedication led him to a fulfilling career as a Fleet Manager for the city of Marquette, where he served with distinction until his retirement in 2007.
A man of diverse interests, Ted was an avid outdoorsman with a profound connection to nature. He found joy in hunting, fishing, and particularly in sailing the vast waters of Lake Superior on his treasured sailboat. His adventurous spirit took him to many places, including the serene beauty of Isle Royale, the welcoming shores of Canada, and the tranquil harbor of Copper Harbor. Wintertime saw him gliding gracefully across snowy landscapes, embracing the chill with downhill and cross-country skiing alongside his family.
Ted was known for his infectious laugh and radiant smile, traits that endeared him to everyone he met. His personality was a blend of strength and sensitivity, a man of deep thoughts and unwavering principles. Though he could be stubborn and strict, his sweet and soft soul left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Ted’s legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren Kendra, Kiara, & Keean Komoroski, Hunter & Callie Gagnon, and great-grandchildren, Luna & Kohen Peterson, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his devoted wife, Holly, his children and their spouses, his sisters Rebecca Robert, Gretchen Spera, Wendy (Keith) Zambon, Jeanne (Paul) Castor, and brothers Perry (McKay) Gagnon, Mark Gagnon, and John (Pam) Gagnon, who will forever hold his memory close in their hearts.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Gardenview and the dedicated hospice team who provided tender care during Ted’s final days. They also express deep appreciation to Holly’s immediate family, and to long-time friends Tony and Darlene Fornetti, whose visits brought comfort and joy to Ted.
