High School
Only one of the three games scheduled for the girls high school basketball showcase yesterday was played.
- Wakefield-Marenisco shaded Forest Park 45-43.
The showcase was supposed to have been played on Monday, but was postponed because of the blizzard. Road conditions had not improved enough yesterday for two of the other teams to make the trip.
Potential make-up dates for the Lake Linden-Hubbell v North Dickinson, and L’Anse v Munising contests have not been announced. The fourth game that was originally scheduled, Baraga v Norway, will also be made up later.
College Basketball
The schedule has also changed for Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan’s basketball teams, forced by power issues at the Physical Education Instructional Facility in Marquette.
Today’s scheduled MTU v Grand Valley, and NMU v Davenport contests will be played tomorrow afternoon, with the women at 1:00, and the men at 3:00. Saturday’s MTU v Davenport and NMU v Grand Valley will also tip off at 1:00 and 3:00.
NHL
The Red Wings slipped past the Jets 2-1 last night. Dylan Larkin and Mason Appleton each scored in the opening period. John Gibson made 24 saves.
The Wings have won five of their last six games, and visit the Penguins tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons will entertain the Heat tonight.
The Bucks dropped a narrow 114-113 decision to the Wizards last night. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 33 points and 15 rebounds, but missed a last-second shot that would have won the game.
The Bucks welcome the Hornets tomorrow.
NFL
The Packers have bolstered their defensive secondary by claiming former Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs off waivers. Diggs is a two-time Pro Bowler, but was released by Dallas after struggling with injuries and some disputes with team officials.
