More than 650 people had cast ballots in the City of Hancock by 3:30 p.m. today. All three city precincts vote at one location inside the Lakeview Manor.
City Clerk Linda Kalinec said the site has seen a steady stream of voters throughout the day.
“We’re seeing absentee as a growing trend, but there’s definitely a good turnout of people who still want to come to the polls. And I see that today. We’ve had more people turn out at the polls than have turned in their ballots by mail. It’s been pretty close,” Kalinec said.
The city sent about 700 absentee ballots, and it has received about 600 of them before Election Day. Kalinec said other forms of voting have grown in popularity since Michigan adopted them, but most people still vote on Election Day.
Local polling places will close at 8 pm Tuesday evening.
