The Michigan Department of Transportation is seeking grant proposals for the Michigan Maritime Port Facility Assistance Grant Program.
The grants aim to support strengthening the state’s economic competitiveness, reduce freight transportation costs, and improve system reliability while mitigating environmental impacts from freight movement.
“Ports and maritime facilities are critical connectors for Michigan industries and communities,” said Bradley Wieferich, state transportation director. “This grant funding reinforces MDOT’s commitment to help modernize infrastructure, enhance safety, and expand capacity.”
The program supports projects that strengthen Michigan’s maritime infrastructure and economic development. Eligible applicants can include port authorities, municipalities, and other entities managing maritime facilities throughout the state.
Grant funding helps modernize aging infrastructure, improve safety systems, and expand capacity to handle increased freight volumes efficiently.
