Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools is proud to announce the 2026 Lake Linden-Hubbell Athletic Hall of Fame Class. This year’s class includes Edward “Jim” Baril, John Kus, Maureen Schick and Gary Guisfredi, four individuals whose accomplishments and dedication have made a lasting impact on the proud tradition of Lakes Athletics.
The 2026 class will be officially inducted on Saturday, October 10, at 9:30 a.m. in the Lake Linden-Hubbell High School Commons. A continental breakfast will be served as part of the induction ceremony. The four honorees will also be recognized at halftime of Saturday’s football game.
Edward “Jim” Baril, Athlete, Class of 1945
Baril was a standout three-sport athlete in football, basketball and track. He helped lead the Lakes basketball team to three consecutive championship seasons, earned First Team All-Tournament honors in both 1944 and 1945, and was a key member of the 1945 Class B District Championship team. Following graduation, Baril served in the U.S. Army from 1945–47.
John Kus, Athlete, Class of 1996
Kus was an outstanding three-sport athlete in football, hockey and track, earning 11 varsity letters before being named Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1996. He earned All-U.P. and All-State Honorable Mention recognition in football, All-Conference honors in hockey and qualified for the U.P. Track & Field Finals all four years. Kus also helped the Lakes football program reach back-to-back State Championship games in 1994 and 1995.
Maureen Schick, Coach/Educator
Schick dedicated 36 years to Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools and founded the Lakes volleyball program in 1989. During more than 20 years as head coach, her teams captured more than 10 conference championships, nine District Championships and four Regional Championships. She compiled a career record of 382-269-37 and helped establish the proud tradition of Lakes Volleyball.
Gary Guisfredi, Coach/Athletic Director/Educator
Guisfredi served Lake Linden-Hubbell for more than three decades, including 16 years as Athletic Director. During 23 years as the girls track and field head coach, his teams captured 18 conference championships, 15 Regional Championships and five U.P. Championships. Under his leadership as Athletic Director, Lakes athletic programs won more than 75 championships. Guisfredi was recognized as Athletic Director of the Year in 2014–15.
