MLB
The Tigers snapped their six-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Rays last night. Jackson Jobe pitched into the fifth inning, and gave up a run on four hits. Drew Sommers earned the win in relief. Max Clark hit a two-run homer – his first in the majors.
The Tigers conclude that home set against the Rays this afternoon. Troy Melton will start against Freddy Peralta. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Outfielder James Outman has cleared waivers after having been designated for assignment. He’s been assigned to Toledo.
A throwing error by third baseman David Hamilton in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the Mets a 3-2 victory over the Brewers last night. With the bases loaded and one out, Hamilton fielded a sharp ground ball cleanly. His throw to the catcher to retire the lead runner was wild, allowing the winning run. Milwaukee had forced extra innings when Christian Yelich doubled home William Contreras in the top of the ninth. With nobody out and runners on second and third, the Crew had a chance to take the lead, but couldn’t bring another run home.
The Brewers continue that series in New York tonight. Dustin May will pitch against Robert Stock.
Sal Frelick returned from the injured list last night. Jonathan Ornelas was designated for assignment to make room on the roster.
Pitchers JoJo Romero and Abner Uribe have been sent to the Brewers’ High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to begin rehab stints. Uribe has been out for two weeks with a right forearm flexor strain. Romero was recovering from an appendectomy when he joined the Brewers as part of the deadline deal that brought in Dustin May.
