The Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress will host a caregivers retreat next month at Fortune Lake Camp in Crystal Falls designed to provide rest and rejuvenation for non-professional family caregivers in the Upper Peninsula.
The day-long event includes structured activities such as nature hikes, cooking and nutrition classes and relaxation by the water. The UPCAP Caregiver Retreat takes place Sept. 26. Individuals can register online for $30. Participants must register by Sept. 11.
Just before the retreat, UPCAP will share caregiving strategies and exercises for seniors with dementia. The Dementia Caregiving Series includes three online sessions starting Sept. 15. The program teaches caregivers basic information about dementia, how to recognize different stages of dementia and how to create meaningful exercises based on the interests of individuals with dementia.
The registration deadline for the Dementia Caregiving Series closes Sept. 4.
