Keider Montero got off to a slow start, and the Tigers dropped a 5-2 decision to the Giants last night. Montero gave up a two-run homer in the first inning and allowed two more runs in the second. He settled down and gave up just one more run through the sixth. Detroit scratched out runs in each of the first two innings, but, despite racking up 11 hits, were blanked the rest of the way. Kevin McGonigle and Spencer Torkelson each had three hits.
The Tigers continue that series in San Francisco tonight. Jackson Jobe returns from a 14-month rehab after Tommy John ligament replacement surgery to face Landen Roupp. Coverage will begin at 6:50 on 99.3 The Lift.
To open a roster spot for Jobe, Brennan Hanifee was returned to Toledo.
The Brewers dropped an 8-6 decision to the Twins last evening. Shane Drohan struggled through five innings, allowing six runs on nine hits. Minnesota scored the winning runs off Antonio Senzatela in the sixth. Jackson Chourio homered.
The Brewers host the Twins again tonight. Robert Gasser will start against Taj Bradley.
