Casey Mize turned in another fine start, as the Tigers dispatched the Rangers 6-3 yesterday. Mize pitched into the seventh, allowing two runs on five hits. Riley Greene drove in four runs with three hits, including a triple and a home run.
The Tigers have won five of their last six, and take today off before beginning a home set against the Athletics tomorrow. Tarik Skubal will start against J.T. Ginn. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers scored three runs in the top of the seventh, and held off the Diamondbacks 3-2 yesterday. Jake Bauers’ two-run homer was the big blow. Starter Brandon Sproat struggled through four innings, allowing five hits and walking three, but held Arizona to just one run.
The Brewers visit the Cardinals tonight. Shane Drohan will pitch against Dustin May.
Brandon Woodruff is back on the injured list, after leaving Saturday’s start with shoulder discomfort. It’s the same shoulder that semt him to the IL a few weeks ago. Drew Rom has been brought up from Nashville.
Milwaukee will finish the season without reliever Brian Fitzpatrick. He has undergone Tommy John ligament replacement surgery, and will need a year or more to rehab.
