The Keweenaw Heritage Center expects many visitors and a lot of fun this summer. On Thursday, the Keweenaw Heritage Center announced plans for a busy season that will include celebrations, music and an antique car show.
Throughout the summer, visitors can stop at St. Anne’s Church in Calumet for daily tours and stories about the building’s history and community. The Keweenaw Heritage Center will officially start providing tours and programming for the summer starting June 15, opening the center earlier than in the past.
Located on Fifth Street, St. Anne’s Church offers visitors one of their first stops in Calumet on the Fourth of July during the village’s celebration. The center also offers programs during other summer staple events in Calumet such as Pasty Fest each August.
Other activities during the summer include an after-hours pop-up event on June 22 and joining the Calumet Theatre during a concert on June 24.
In July, the Keweenaw Heritage Center showcases “Oldies but Goodies” with the trio Gail English, Mike Irish and Scott Veenstra, the “Let’s Sing and Play Variety Show,” a piano solo performance, and then Cathy Isaacson and the Back Roads Boys in August, with more concerts until the end of summer.
