It feels good to be surrounded by friends, especially when hanging out inside one of the region’s most historic clubs.
The historic Miscowaubik Club will open its doors to the public Thursday to share the club’s history in a renewed effort to introduce itself to the community.
Founded in 1903, the Miscowaubik Club was established as a social and recreational gathering space for the Copper Country’s business, professional and community leaders. The club’s name comes from Ojibwe meaning “red metal,” a nod to the region’s Native history and copper industry.
Over many years, the Miscowaubik Club became synonymous with Calumet’s prosperity. The club offered elegant dining, billiards, athletic facilities and space to socialize.
More than 120 years later, the Miscowaubik Club continues to offer its members and guests dining experiences, private party rentals and space for social events.
The open house begins at 5 p.m. Thursday. A second open house will take place on Saturday from 11am to 5pm. No membership is required to attend the event.
The Miscowaubik Club is located at 57035 Calumet Avenue in Calumet. Learn more about the Miscowaubik Club here.
