Lions International invited the Upper Peninsula Human Trafficking Task Force to address the United Nations during a March event focusing on women’s empowerment and human trafficking.
Lions International President AP Singh invited UPHTTF Past President and Chassell Lions member Stephanie Graef to speak at the 48th annual Lions Day with the United Nations event in New York. The event celebrates the long-standing partnership between Lions International and the United Nations.
Graef joined a panel discussion on women’s empowerment and human trafficking alongside advocates Sylvia Maier, Muqaddesa Youish, Katalin Bogyay and Mira Sorvino.
The UPHTTF works throughout the region to organize educational programming that spreads awareness about what human trafficking looks like and its different forms.
In 2024, District 10 Lions took formal action to address human trafficking when the chapter entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Upper Peninsula Human Trafficking Task Force.
