High School
In high school hockey last night…
- Hancock shaded Kingsford 2-0. Forrest Lacourt netted the game-winner late in the second period, and Connor Helminen added an insurance goal in the third. Adam Mikkola got the shutout for the Bulldogs. Alex Helmgren made 51 saves to keep the Flivvers in the game, as Hancock outshot Kingsford 53-18.

- Dollar Bay-Tamarack City smothered Ironwood 67-29.
- Jeffers defeated Ewen-Trout Creek 53-34.
- Lake Linden-Hubbell lost at Bessemer 54-37.
- L’Anse outscored Chassell 74-53. Sam Lee scored 27 for the Purple Hornets, Talon Larson added 17 and Devon Connor 16. Luke Tarvis had 21 for the Panthers, and Grady Olson 14.
- Baraga dispatched Ontonagon 50-37.
In girls action last evening…
- Houghton raced past West Iron County 69-48. Jacey Sleeman had 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the Gremlins. Ruby Zawada added 22 points, and Lexi Burns 13. Bristol Shamion scored 20 for the Wykons.
- Lake Linden-Hubbell routed Bessemer 61-22.
- Dollar Bay-Tamarack City lost to Ironwood 49-31.
- Jeffers fell to Ewen-Trout Creek 55-30.

- Tonight’s Watersmeet at Hancock boys basketball game is canceled. It will not be rescheduled.
On tonight’s girls schedule…
- Tonight’s Gwinn at Calumet girls basketball game has been postponed to this coming Monday, with varsity tipoff at 6:00.
- Tonight’s Ontonagon at Baraga game has been postponed, and will be part of a tripleheader (boys JV, girls varsity, boys varsity) on 2/5 at Ontonagon.
- The L’Anse girls basketball game at Wakefield-Marenisco has been postponed until Wednesday.
- Forest Park hosts North Central.
On the girls schedule tomorrow…
- Houghton travels to Menominee.
The Houghton High School swim teams swept their meets against Westwood yesterday.
The boys claimed a 128-125 victory. Anderson Limkemann won the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Tate Evans the 200 individual medley, Alex Svanidze the 100 butterfly, Zhi Tao Yap the 100 freestyle, Kameron Johnson the 500 freestyle, William Jiang the 100 backstroke, and Isaac Neva won diving.
The girls took a 131-46 win. Evelyn LaTendresse claimed the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, Lydia Williams the 200 individual medley, Kayleigh Dart the 100 freestyle, Aya Keteri the 500 freestyle, Delaney Salmi the 100 backstroke, and Ahri Olson the 100 breaststroke.
The swim team competes at Marquette tomorrow.
College Basketball
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams earned victories at Saginaw Valley State last night…
- The women shut down the Cardinals 59-40. Janie Tormanen scored 16, and Alissa Wypych added 14.
- The eighth-ranked men’s team nearly squandered a 21-point lead, but held on for an 80-78 win. Marcus Tomashek scored 27, and Dawson Nordgaard netted 20.
Both Tech teams play at Lake Superior State tomorrow.
Both Northern Michigan teams swept their games at Lake Superior State last night.
- The 13th-ranked women’s team sailed to an 80-61 victory. Jacy Weisbrod scored 21.
- The men’s team overcame a 14-point deficit, and pulled out a 77-74 victory. Dylan Kuehl scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds
Both NMU teams play at Saginaw Valley State tomorrow.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team hosts Minnesota State tonight at 7:07 and tomorrow at 6:07.
Northern Michigan’s hockey team has the weekend off.
GLHL
Both the Portage Lake Pioneers and the Calumet Wolverines have this weekend off.
NHL
The Red Wings host the Sharks tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons set the Suns 108-105 last night. Cade Cunningham returned after missing some games with a wrist injury, but was held to just 10 points. Duncan Robinson stepped up with 19 to lead Detroit, and Jalen Duren scored 16 and grabbed 18 rebounds.
The Pistons welcome the Pacers tomorrow.
The Bucks lost to the Spurs 119-101 last evening. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 21.
The Bucks visit the Hawks on Monday.
