High School
In high school boys basketball last night…
- Houghton fell to Dollar Bay-Tamarak City 64-48.
- The Calumet v West Iron County game was postponed because West Iron canceled school. No make-up date has been announced.
- L’Anse stopped Hancock 48-33. Sam Lee and Keegan Davidson each scored 13 for the Purple Hornets. Isaac Wanhala had 15 for the Bulldogs.
- Chassell fell to Ontonagon 70-59. Brayden Larson led the Panthers with 32 points. Luke Tarvis added 4 three pointers for 12 points, and Dayne Tarvis added 10 points. Ontonagon’s Jack Nelson had 28 points, and Mason Pestka added 16.
On the boys schedule today…
- Ewen-Trout Creek journeys to Butternut.
In girls action last night…
- L’Anse clobbered Bessemer 58-15.
- Baraga shaded Norway 34-32.
- Forest Park smothered Stephenson 58-20.
In high school hockey last evening…
- Houghton staved off Brother Rice 6-5. After falling behind early in the second period, the Gremlins scored four straight to open up a 6-3 lead as the period closed. Brother Rice responded with two third-period tallies, but the Gremlins were able to hold on. Braden Kari and Noah Maillette each scored twice. Connor Arko had a goal and three assists, and Jack Sayen also found the net. Brycyn Nettel made 22 saves.
- Hancock routed Waukesha 9-0 in a game that ended after two periods because of the mercy rule. Eight different Bulldogs scored, with Brady Axford finding the net twice. Brian Ponnikas had to make just 9 saves to earn the shutout.
- Jeffers blasted the Traverse City Bay Reps 6-1 at the North/South Showcase at Traverse City. Max Nordstrom had a hat trick. Tage Rajala, Easton Therrian and Hudsen Heinonen each scored once. Kasen Helminen earned the win, as the Jets outshot the Reps 27-15.

- Jeffers takes on Caledonia at 12:15 at the North/South Showcase at Traverse City.
- Hancock entertains Plymouth at 1:00.

The Houghton High School swim team hosts its own Houghton Splash invitational today.
College Basketball
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams host Ferris State today – the women at noon, and the men at 2:00.
Both Northern squads will host Ferris on Monday.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team scored three first-period goals, and cruised past Bemidji State 5-2 last evening. Max Koskipirtti had two tallies, and Isaac Gordon, Tom Leppa and Elias Jansson scored one each. Owen Bartoszkiewicz made 19 saves.
The Huskies skate at Bemidji State again tonight.
The NMU hockey squad fell to Augustana 3-0 last night. Those teams meet again tonight in Marquette.
GLHL
The Calumet Wolverines v the Fox Cities Ice Dogs last night – no report.
The Portage Lake Pioneers remained unbeaten with a 5-3 victory over the Mosinee Papermakers last night.
The Pioneers will host the Ice Dogs this evening at 7:30.
NHL
The Red Wings visit the Canadiens tonight.
NBA
The Pistons host the Clippers tonight.
The Bucks got past the Lakers 105-101 last night. Kevin Porter, Jr. led Milwaukee with 22 points, and Giannis Antetokounmpo added 21.
The Bucks visit the Nuggets tomorrow.
NFL
The NFL’s Wild Card playoff round begins today. The Panthers host the Rams at 4:30, and the Packers visit the Bears at 8:00. We’ll broadcast all of the NFL playoff games on 99.3 The Lift.
