Breakwater Federal Credit Union supports the community through more than 200 volunteer hours in 2025.
As one of several banking options in the region, Breakwater Federal Credit Union sought to connect with the Copper Country in a unique way, by volunteering at different events or with various nonprofits. The credit union set a goal at the start of 2025 to provide more than 168 volunteer hours in the Copper Country.
By the time Dec. 31 was checked off the calendar, Breakwater FCU employees contributed 228 hours in total, supporting more than 25 causes in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
This included stepping up to fill volunteer roles at one of the last Hancock Lights the Night displays after seeing the city post a notice for critical volunteer needs during the event.
Through a philosophy of people helping people, Breakwater FCU also provided support to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to collaborate on the Giving Tree program.
