Even before a comedy show helped support the Copper Country Humane Society, Houghton’s 97.7 The Wolf radio station supported the shelter with the 12 Dogs of Christmas. Radio station host Kevin Ericson says the program has helped many people and families find a new friend and, more importantly, help pets find a forever home.
“There have been times of dog drought, which is a good thing. We had a couple of cats. It was the 12 pets of Christmas one year because of the lack of dogs. But we’re back to a surplus again. And we have 12 wonderful pooches, actually 11, because our first dog has already been adopted,” Ericson said.
The 12 Dogs of Christmas program helps raise awareness for adoptions at the Humane Society and helps promote the Raise the Woof comedy show at the Rozsa Center on Jan. 10.
Those interested in learning more about the Copper Country Humane Society or Raise the Woof comedy nights coming up can find more details online. Learn more about Lomas, Coraline, Poncho, Daisy, Chico and their friends by contacting the Copper Country Humane Society through their Facebook page.
Ericson adds the 12 Dogs of Christmas has room left for sponsors to join this year’s program. Those interested in supporting the 12 Dogs of Christmas as a pet sponsor should contact 97.7 FM – The Wolf at (906) 482-7700.
