The Michigan Tech hockey team is at the Desert Hockey Classic in Tempe, Arizona, where they’ll face Air Force this afternoon at 5:00. The Huskies will take on either Alaska Anchorage or Arizona State tomorrow.
The Northern Michigan University hockey team skates at Lake Superior State tomorrow night.
College Basketball
Both Tech basketball teams host Grand Valley State today, in contests that were pushed back from yesterday. The women face the top-ranked Lakers at 1:00, and the fifth-ranked Huskies men’s team tipping off at 3:00. Both MTU teams will entertain Davenport University tomorrow afternoon.
Both NMU squads will host Davenport this afternoon, and Grand Valley State tomorrow.
GLHL
The Calumet Wolverines skate at Eagle River tomorrow night.
NHL
The Red Wings dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Penguins last night. James van Riemsdyk and Andrew Copp scored early for Detroit. Alex DeBrincat tied the game with three minutes left in the third period. Kris Letang’s goal a minute into extra time gave Pittsburgh the win. Cam Talbot made 27 saves for Detroit.
Those teams will conclude a brief home-and-home series tomorrow in Detroit. Coverage will begin at 11:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons rallied from 22 points down in the third quarter, but fell to the Heat 112-108 last night. Cade Cunningham had 31 points and 11 assists.
The Pistons visit the Cavaliers Sunday afternoon.
Tobias Harris missed last night’s game with a hip injury he suffered in Tuesday’s contest. Medical evaluations continue.
The Bucks welcome the Hornets tonight.
NFL
The Lions conclude their disappointing season Sunday at Chicago. Coverage will begin at 3:20 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Packers wrap up their regular season Sunday with a 1:00 game at Minnesota. Win or lose, Green Bay will have the seventh NFC playoff position, so the Packers will start backup Clayton Tune at quarterback. Jordan Love has cleared concussion protocol, and will be available if needed. Malik Willis is nursing a shoulder injury.
