Rosalie “Rosie” Funke, age 78 of L’Anse passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 21, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was born in L’Anse on April 27, 1947 the daughter of the late Caroline (Roth) Rodgers and Einer Johnson and was raised by Harold and Irene (Johnson) Pettersen. Rosie graduated from L’Anse High School in 1965. She then attended Beauty School in Green Bay, WI. Rosie married Donald “Don” Funke at United Lutheran Church, L’Anse on September 4, 1976. Rosie had owned and operated Rosie’s Magic Mirror for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of United Lutheran Church. Rosie enjoyed baking, and was known for her homemade caramels, cooking, and going on her annual Green Bay Christmas shopping trips.
Rosie is survived by her loving family; husband Don of L’Anse, daughters Jaclyn Funke, and Heather Funke (Wesley Maki), step children Joe (Tarri) Funke, and Michelle (Richard) Ruszkowski, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother Tommy Rodgers and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Vivian (Art) Allert, and Shirley (Dick) Gustafson, and brother Leo Roth.
Funeral services for Rosie will take place at 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at United Lutheran Church with Pastor Julie Belew officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the services, the family invites friends to join them for a luncheon in the church hall. Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery.
Memorials in Rosie’s honor may be directed to the United Lutheran Church Women’s Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the church.
