When snow arrives in Calumet, lights begin to twinkle in the shop windows and homes. Christmas must be around the corner.
Christmas in Calumet events start tonight. Main Street Calumet invites the Copper Country to join the village throughout the month of December for fun events and making memories around the holiday season.
Tonight, the Copper Country Associated Artists will host the first of the First Friday art programs at 117 5th Street. Tomorrow evening the village invites the community to join Calumet for the Christmas tree lighting in the commons. Visitors can also enjoy cider, doughnuts, cookie decorating, and a chance to meet a special guest.
Events later in the month include skating with Santa at the George Gipp Arena and dog sledding in Agassiz Park with Copper Dog. On Dec. 20, the Keweenaw National Historic Park will host a special open house and commemorate the season by taking visitors through winters over the past 150 years in Calumet.
Throughout the month walk through downtown along Fifth Street and enjoy Illuminate Calumet’s holiday light displays. Two winners in the holiday decoration contest will earn a one-hour business photo shoot with local photographer Lily Veneable.
